Digitale LED Strip

With digital LED strips, sometimes also called Pixel, Magic or Dream LED strips, the LEDs can be controlled individually, enabling stunning lighting effects such as rainbow effects, running lights, or other special effects. A standard (for example RGBW) LED strip can only display one colour at a time across its entire length. Advanced lighting effects with movement and changing colours are therefore only possible with a digital LED strip.

What can you do with a digital / pixel LED strip?

With digital LED strips you can create special lighting effects such as rainbows, running lights, colours changing along the entire length, and much more. When you place digital LED strips next to each other (in a “grid”), it is even possible to create a kind of display on which you can project 2D shapes or lighting effects. It is even possible to play a video file across your digital LED strips in combination with the appropriate controller.

Can I create my own light shows with digital LED strips?

Yes, this is possible when you use the appropriate controller. There are controllers with PC editing software that allow you to draw exactly how the LED strips are installed, after which you can program your own lighting effects or even play video files. It is even possible to create very extensive installations using digital LED strips combined with multiple controllers, allowing you to program large-scale light shows. Please contact us if you have any questions or need advice!

How exactly do I use a digital LED strip?

To use a digital / pixel LED strip, you need a digital controller. We sell several types, ranging from simple controllers suitable for a single digital LED strip with a few pre-programmed effects, to professional controllers designed for larger installations where you can create your own light shows. There are also controllers with smart home connectivity, allowing you to integrate a digital LED strip into your smart home system and control it via Zigbee (ZLL).

In addition to a digital controller, you will also need a suitable power supply. The exact power supply required depends on the type and amount of LED strip. Not sure which one you need? Please contact us!

How do I connect a digital LED strip?

A digital / pixel LED strip has 3 connection points. Sometimes the wires are pre-soldered, but in other cases you will need to solder them yourself. Prefer not to do this yourself? Then simply add our soldering service to your order. A digital strip has 3 wires: Ground, Plus (+12V or +24V) and Data. The ground and +12/24V wires are connected to the power supply, and the data wire is connected to the data output of the controller. Don’t worry, the connections are very simple and are also explained in the controller manual.
