Dim-to-Warm LED Strips – Warm White Dimming Like Halogen
Special LED strips that mimic the dimming behavior of a halogen lamp. These are single-channel, warm white LED strips that produce increasingly yellowish light as they are dimmed. Just like when you dim an “old-fashioned” halogen spotlight! The advantage of these strips is that they only have one channel, so you can choose to dim them using a Triac dimmable power supply and connect them to a traditional wall dimmer. This gives you beautiful warm white lighting that can be dimmed to a cozy warm glow, together with all your regular lighting. Especially if you already use halogen spots in the same room, these strips are a perfect solution!

What is the difference compared to a regular dual white LED strip?
A standard dual-white LED strip has two channels: warm white and cool white. You therefore need a special controller to “mix” these two channels in the ratio you want, in order to achieve the desired white tone.
A dim-to-warm LED strip automatically dims to yellowish warm light. This strip also contains two types of LEDs: warm white and “extra warm white”, but the adjustment of the color temperature happens automatically. The more you dim the LED strip, the more yellowish the light becomes.
When can I use dim-to-warm LED strips?
Dim-to-warm LED strips are very useful in spaces where halogen lighting is already present, because halogen lighting shows the same behavior: when dimmed, the light becomes more yellow. A dim-to-warm LED strip perfectly imitates this behavior. In addition, dim-to-warm strips are ideal if you want to be able to choose between brighter warm white light and soft, yellowish light. Because they only have one channel, they can easily be controlled with a single-channel LED strip dimmer, but also with a triac dimmable power supply in combination with a traditional wall dimmer that also dims your regular 230V lighting.
What do I need to make a dim-to-warm LED strip work?
To fully utilize a dim-to-warm LED strip, it needs to be dimmed. In principle, you can choose between two control methods:
- Standard power adapter and a single-color LED strip dimmer
- Triac dimmable power supply
A triac dimmable power supply is connected to your (existing) wall dimmer, allowing you to easily dim the LED strip together with your existing 230V lighting. Because the dim-to-warm LED strip produces a nice warm yellowish light when dimmed, you instantly create a pleasant atmosphere!
